UCCC has SIXTEEN traditional school desks that we have decided to put to good use – by NOT using them in the classroom. We will “loan” these desks to artists and ask them to reimagine what a typical desk can be. On May 21, 2011, we will exhibit the art and hold a live auction.

Fearful/Feisty/Flexible – these three terms are used to describe different temperaments all humans are born with. UCCC believes that schools have not attended well enough to children’s individual temperaments. Teachers don’t often recognize their own temperament or how it affects their interactions with students.

More than a fundraising event, Fearful/Feisty/Flexible seeks to raise awareness for the importance of quality early childhood education that respects children’s individual needs. UCCC pushes people to think outside a traditional paradigm and are reimagining what the face of early childhood will look like.

The proceeds of the sale of the desks will support the UCCC Tuition Assistance program.
